I apologize. I’ve been a bit lax about updating this blog. So here’s some catchup:
During December, we sold 82 calendars and raised $496.88 for National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. ($86.88 of that came from a Volume Bonus that CafePress gives.)
Over the course of January, we sold 7 calendars. This amounted to an additional $35, for a grand total of $531.88 raised.
And while we try to sell more calendars, we’re also looking towards the future and planning the next Shooting For A Cause project. This time, we’re starting earlier to give more time for everything to be done. We’ve already had a poll about what project to tackle next and for whom. The winner was another set of calendars plus a photobook for National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The photobook will consist of all of the photos that are in the calendars, plus a few bonus photos.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be coming up with theme ideas. So feel free to stop by the theme thread and post your ideas. The other big change that might occur is that we might switch away from CafePress. We didn’t have any major issues with them. In fact, I think they did a great job. It’s just that they don’t sell photobooks.
One last piece of information about the next project. I’ve plotted out a roadmap of what needs to be done. It’s pretty rough and isn’t set in stone, but it should give a pretty good idea as to what’s going to happen when:
- 1/31 - 2/16 Theme ideas
- 2/17 - 3/1 Theme poll (pick 4)
- 3/2 - 3/8 Prep for photo submissions
- 3/9 - 5/9 Photo submissions
- 4/27 - 5/9 Selection Committee Nominations
- 5/11 - 7/11 Selection committee meets to choose photos
- 7/12 - 8/22 Image Preparation
- 8/23 - 8/31 Shop Setup / Final Prep
- 9/1 Go Live
Thanks and remember to buy a calendar!

While you’re there, click on the Spread The Word tab to see how you can tell more people about the calendars. Also click on the Credits tab to see a list of people responsible for getting the calendars out the door. (I apologize in advance if I forgot anybody, but I think I covered it all.)
I’ll probably post weekly sales figures for the first month and then monthly sales figures thereafter. Our goal is to raise $1,000 for The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Since they get $5 per calendar sold, that means our goal is 200 calendars sold. Let’s see how quickly we can hit that number!
Thanks again, everyone for all of your help and wonderful photos!
